UV Ceti stars in the solar vicinity are formed in clusters and associations which have time to disintegrate. About 10 percent of field flare stars are found in the regions of these systems. These stars contribute to completing the census of stars in the solar neighborhood from which the number of stars in the galaxy as a whole can be inferred.
